He had a great sense of humour and he knew how to get on with people. He was famous for the ugly ties and bonnie bonnets that he always wore...When he started on the folk scene he met long term friend Billy Connelly who remained his very close friend for 35 years until the day he died....On the personal side of his life, he met his wife Helen in the 60's when he was 21 they wed and went on to have 2 children Janie and Rikki, who have now provided him with 4 grandchildren, 3 boys and 1 girl....Unfortunatly they never got to meet their gandad, but i am sure he would have made a great one.....
