He spent most of his life travelling around to different folk festivals around the world, his favourites being Ballyshannon festival in Ireland where he was the compere in 1993... The other was Tonder festival in Denmark, which Rikki went to with him one year in 1990, and can now understand why he loved it so much as it was great fun and the people were very friendly.. Later on in his career he went on to organise and be highly involved with all aspects of the festivals. The Isle of Bute folk festival went on to be one of the most sought after and spoken about because of it's success....
